Two More Tests

So by this point I'm getting really tired of all the tests. One more MRI and a PET scan and finally treatment will begin.

We saw the doctor on Friday and some not so pleasant news was passed our way. All of the tests run this last week couldn't rule out the possibility of the cancer spreading. It looks as if it made it into my back bones and possibly into my lungs.

It seems that the bone scan is great for picking up cancer that creates scarring (which is what usually happens) and I don't have any. However, it seems that the CT scan has picked what appears to be holes in most of my vertebrae. There is a possibility that this is something else and not the cancer so I'm praying day and night it's not.

So I have to wait some more - Thursday the 3rd I'm scheduled for the final two tests. And we'll go from there.

Another Reason to Take it One Day at a Time

So I'm continuing all of my diagnostics this week.

Besides the regular blood work I've gotten to enjoy being radioactive for a little while :-)
Besides the barium overloads (you don't want to know how many different ways they got that crap into me!) and the radioactive isotope injected into me, things are going well. It seems that UNofficially my bones are clean. At first there was a scare. I was called back for another bone scan picture. But the second one seemed to show I was clear.

As I'm learning, the technicians are very quick to tell you when there is nothing wrong. But will quickly refer any comments to the "doctor." This guy was cool and showed me where the abnormality was in my pelvis bone. I only tell you guys about this because then I got to go sit on the bone scan machine so they could get the pictures at a different angle. If you ever tried to photocopy your butt, you've definitely gotta try this!! Very cool. But he showed me the pictures and said as far as he could tell my bones look good. Another prayer answered.

After this of course we received some bad news. My mom was getting a mammogram at about the same time as me (different places) and they found two lumps that they are certain are cancer. Very bizarre and very not funny that mother and daughter should be going about this at the same time. The good news is that based on initial news they seemed to catch it at the VERY early stages. Of course this is all preliminary. But they are tiny masses and it seems to not be in her lymph nodes. All very good inidicators of a speedy recovery.

So if any of you reading this don't mind, please include my mom in your prayers. I'm definitely praying they caught hers earlier than mine and it will be a much easier treatment!! I'm young and can handle it much better than she would be able to.

Two more tests to go and then Friday afternoon I'll have all the results and put together (finally) a full treatment plan so I can get started next week.

By the way, if no one reads this that's fine. This is a great place for me to voice some of the things on my mind without weighing Kahlil down all the time. In a book, you feel like you're not talking to anyone. Here I can feel like someone is listening.

Happy Valentines

I thought it was Christmas morning judging by the excitement from Taylor the minute he woke up!

I've never seen ANYONE so excited for Valentines. He had cool spiderman cards with stickers of course to be handed out at school. And of course the dozens waiting to be given to him. I thought this was the only reason behind his excitement. Those sweet days at 5 years old when you didn't have to worry about having a "boyfriend" for the 14th. Everyone got the same thing in the same amount.

After acting like a total lunatic - just like any kid on Christmas morning - he quickly got sent to his room to take a breather and calm down. And almost immediately asked to go to the bathroom to throw up. We thought it was just nerves and excitement but as the morning went on we realized he definitely had the bug. Which meant no school, no cards today.

He of course was mortified that he was missing Valentines day. He just had to go to school. We talked about Valentines being about showing each other how much you love them. And hey, can't we and shouldn't we do that everyday? Boy did that cheer him up.

The next day, the cards were waiting for him at school and his spiderman cards were signed sealed and delivered. Don't be surprised if one day in July Taylor calls you up or sends you a Valentines card.

Happy Valentine's Everyone.

Spring is here - Thank goodness I'm in Texas now not NY
